Position: Operations Manager – Renewable Energy (Solar Focus)
Organization: Goodlight Energy Ltd
Duty Station: Hargeisa Office, Somaliland
Employment Type: Full-Time
Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable based on performance)

1. Organizational Overview

Goodlight Energy Ltd is a leading renewable energy company operating in Somalia and Somaliland, delivering clean, affordable, and sustainable solar energy solutions. The company serves households, businesses, and institutions with solar PV systems, commercial and institutional installations, and off-grid or hybrid mini-grid projects. 2. Position Objective

The Operations Manager – Renewable Energy (Solar Focus) will oversee and coordinate the company’s operational functions to ensure efficient project execution, optimal resource utilization, and high-quality service delivery. This senior role requires expertise in renewable energy operations, particularly solar projects, combined with strong leadership and business management skills.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee daily operational activities for solar and renewable energy projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules, logistics, procurement, and operational workflows to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.
  • Supervise and support operational teams, including engineers, technicians, and field staff.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and performance management systems.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, timelines, and operational risks; prepare regular management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, donor requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Oversee inventory management, equipment utilization, and supply chain operations.
  • Support client relations, service delivery, and after-sales operations.
  • Provide operational input for planning, proposal development, scaling, and continuous improvement initiatives.

4. Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years in renewable energy operations, with a focus on solar energy projects.
  • Proven experience managing operations, logistics, teams, and budgets in technical or energy-related environments.
  • Solid understanding of the solar PV project lifecycle, from planning to operation and maintenance.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications in project management, operations, or renewable energy are an advantage.

5. Reporting Line

The Operations Manager reports directly to the Director General.

6. Contract Duration and Compensation

  • Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable based on performance and organizational needs.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
