About the World Food Programme (WFP)
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency dedicated to combating hunger and promoting food security. As the food-assistance branch of the United Nations, WFP provides life-saving support to people affected by conflict, climate shocks, natural disasters, and economic crises.
Working in more than 120 countries and territories, WFP assists vulnerable populations through emergency food distributions, nutrition programs, cash-based transfers, school feeding initiatives, and livelihood support. The organization also partners with governments, communities, and local organizations to build long-term resilience, strengthen supply chains, and create sustainable food systems.
WFP’s mission is to ensure that every person has access to the food they need to live a healthy and productive life, with a strong focus on protecting women, children, and marginalized groups from the impacts of hunger and malnutrition.
